Huge congratulations to Gladiator Sailing team for winning the Rolex TP52 World Championship Super Series 2024.
Tony Langley's Gladiator has become the first British flagged team to win this prestigious event which took place on July 16-20th in Newport, USA, hosted by the New York Yacht Club. The World Championship, part of the 52 SUPER SERIES, attracts top-tier sailing teams from around the globe, each vying for the world championship title and a coveted Rolex timepiece.
The Rolex TP52 World Championship is an exciting showcase of elite racing and cutting-edge yacht design. The competition features a series of ten races over five days, where teams showcase their skill in the highly competitive TP52 class. Known for its emphasis on precision and teamwork, the TP52 World Championship is renowned for its close races, often decided by mere seconds.
Gladiator, a prominent British team, is owned by the renowned businessman Tony Langley. The team's progress has been impressive, achieving third place in Saint Tropez, Mahon, and the Rolex TP52 World Championship in Barcelona, missing out on third overall by just four points. Their previous best season was in 2017, finishing second at the final regatta on countback.
They have achieved the highest recognition in winning the Rolex TP52 World Championships and we at Ruffnek are immensely proud that they choose to wear our Union Jack and Naval flag design scarves.
